This is Gaming Cypher’s Xbox One review of Azkend 2: The World Beneath by independent game developer 10tons Ltd.
Right off the bat, I noticed that match-three adventure game Azkend 2: The World Beneath has gorgeous artwork, 8 unique hand-drawn scenes and beautiful graphics. There are three game modes, which include two challenges and adventure. Instead of the typical match-three game with different scenes at each level, Azkend 2 actually has a great story mode with over 60 levels. The story mode includes many fun filled puzzles that will challenge you to complete each one in the allotted time frame. There is also the ability to compete on the GC leaderboards in the Time-challenge. In addition, the game boasts the cinematic soundtrack by Jonathan Geer, which we appreciated.
I began the game playing as an explorer aboard a ship in a very rough and stormy ocean. By completing challenges and puzzles, I was able to craft certain items such as a compass and eyeglass (and many more!) that allowed me to continue on my journey. Throughout Azkend 2: The World Beneath, I found myself getting lost in a typhoon and landed in a mysterious Lost World type of environment under the sea. There is so much exploration in different types of environments such as mountains, jungles and volcanoes peppered throughout the match-three challenges that I found myself addicted to the game and not wanting to stop playing.
The gameplay includes different boards with various tiles, each one including a different artifact that you must navigate to the bottom and remove in order to progress in a timely manner. At least three of the same type tiles must be connected, but more is better. When you connect at least six tiles, you get rewarded with a lightening ball. There are also active and passive power-ups that you gain throughout your game by solving various puzzles and challenges. An example is the dynamite tile, which once recovered, will appear in boards and help clear nearby tiles.

Overall, I found Azkend 2: The World Beneath delightful, challenging and addicting fun! The replayability factor is tremendous as each puzzle board will be played differently each and every time. I would definitely recommend a Buy and rate it a 9/10.
