TROPICO 6 Review for Steam

Trade, raids, and citizen revolts: Tropico 6 by Kalypso Games and Limbic Entertainment brings these elements together in a thrilling new trade-based sandbox game for PC. Whether you’re a tyrannical leader posing a greater threat to your citizens than the pirates seeking to invade your island or a democratic leader who cares for your people, El Presidente is here to stay. Issuing edicts and maintaining foreign relations, Tropico 6 is sure to both stress and impress.

TROPICO 6 Review for Steam

It isn’t necessary to have played the Tropico games of yesterday to enjoy Tropico 6. In fact, despite the many improvements on their previous Tropico games, Kalypso Games and Limbic Entertainment have added a multitude of new additions such as raids, which will leave players entertained for hours.

Controls are simple, which makes Tropico 6 delightful for all returning conquerors and fresh blood founders. Making most of the game mouse-dominated is convenient. While there are multiple options to move the screen, I highly suggest using AWSD, this gives the player more control and keeps the motions fluid! However, Kalypso Games and Limbic Entertainment leave it up to the player to decide the best navigation method.

Any returning player knows keeping your citizens happy is vital to player success. If El Presidente does not meet the needs of their citizens, they are sure to revolt so be sure to visit the almanac often and check in on things like happiness, unemployment, and homelessness. I like this addition because it allows players to focus in on citizen’s needs and address them promptly. Although players may notice shacks piling up (which indicates their citizens are homeless) this section conveniently associates a numerical value to citizens in need of a home. Visiting this often brought me the most success and allowed me to raise and maintain the overall happiness of my people.

Establishing trades has never been easier. For players who have played the former Tropico game (Tropico 5), they know how tiresome acquiring additional trade routes may be, especially if you are low on money. Luckily in Tropico 6, players can purchase additional trade routes! This is a major improvement and I can assure will be appreciated by all players.

At first, the concept of trade might seem intimidating but Kalypso Games and Limbic Entertainment does an excellent job ensuring players won’t get lost in the shuffle by making trade simple and organized. In a very complex, trade-based sandbox game such as Tropico 6, it is important to keep things minimal while still making sure to include all vital information such as potential trade routes and active trade routes. Additionally, Tropico 6 also includes a unique feature which shows the total percent a resource’s price deviates from standard market value. This is a monumental feature because it allows players to value the price of goods versus the price of foreign relations. It is truly a captivating addition!

TROPICO 6 Review for Steam

Whether you’re a returning player or a newbie looking to conquer your first island, Tropico 6 is sure to satisfy your taste for tyranny. You won’t be disappointed by the simplistic controls and I can assure the constant, quick decision-making will keep you on your toes. But beware of citizen revolts and be sure to maintain your foreign relations or El Presidente may end up in la cárcel.
