The Top 5 Online Games to Play Against Others

Gaming can be fun, relaxing and a bit of an escape from normal life but to some it offers up the opportunity to indulge their competitive streak. Fortunately, there are several great online games where players can test their mettle against challengers from every corner of the globe.
If you’re looking to get the adrenaline pumping and test yourself, read on to find out the 5 best online games that you can play competitively. If there’s a game you think we’ve missed out, let us know in the comments section below.

1. Call of Duty Modern Warfare: Warzone

First-person shooters have been around for decades, but few have managed to reach the heights of the Call of Duty Franchise. The most recent release in the series saw the launch of free-to-play game mode Warzone, which takes the form of a classic Battle Royale.

In solos, duos, trios or quads you will be deployed to the fictional city of Verdansk along with 140+ other online players. To make it out as winner you will have to avoid the encroaching gas that reduces the playing area significantly and kill the other squads to be crowned last person/squad standing.

Warzone isn’t for the faint-hearted and more often than not, the ‘best’ player/squad doesn’t end up winning. You may think that your gun skill is superior to everyone else’s in the lobby, but winning requires patience, tactics and a certain amount of luck.

If you’re new to the game makes sure to check out some of IceManIsaac’s tips and tricks videos on YouTube to clue you up on the game before deploying to Verdansk.

2. BLAST POKER

Blast Poker at 888poker.com is an exciting Sit & Go game. Three players compete for a randomly drawn prize pool. The game is on a time limit, adding an extra level of excitement to proceedings and players could be competing for a prize pool which is up to worth 10,000 times their buy-in!

Once the game begins, the timer begins to countdown. When the BLAST timer runs out, all of the players involved automatically go all-in until someone comes out victorious! It’s not for the feint of heart, but it’s guaranteed to bring drama!

3. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

If you’re too good at Call of Duty and want to test yourself against experienced gamers rather than noobs download CS:GO. This free-to-play game was originally released in August 2012 but remains widely played thanks to a series of regular updates.

Each team loads into a game as a team of terrorists or counter-terrorists with a specific set of objectives; rescuing hostages, eliminating hostiles etc. The graphics and gameplay of CS:GO have ensured the games consistent popularity and subsequent thriving player base over the past eight years.

If you’re expecting to jump straight in and frag out straight away, be warned that CS:GO is considerably harder than any Call of Duty title.

4. F1 2020

Taking a step away from first-person shooters, the next game that you should absolutely play to stir your competitive streak is F1 2020. As the name would suggest, the game is based on the Formula 1 series and it offers you several different ways to test your skills.

If you’re new to the title, we would recommend trying out the career mode against the AI to get you acquainted with how the game works and how to make the most of your car and the resources available to your team.

Once you feel ready to step up to the plate, you can jump into a competitive season against your friends or against players from all around the world. You can take on your opponents in a classic, season long F1 campaign or tailor the tournament to suit your needs.

For the best experience, select a full season and full race times to really test your driving skill and concentration.

5. Rocket League

If you’ve ever shelled out for the latest FIFA title, you’ll be aware that the game is fun to play at the beginning when its shiny and new, but that eventually it becomes a chore and somewhat of a snooze fest.

Ultimate Team was good when it was first introduced but over recent years the increased importance of packs has made it feel like a ‘pay-to-win’ game. If you want to recapture the excitement of enthralling gameplay that once made FIFA so good, give Rocket League a try.

Football with cars might seem like somewhat of an alien concept, but once you get over that you’ll realize that Rocket League is a truly amazing game. What’s more is that there’s an incredible high skill ceiling in Rocket League which makes it one of the most competitive games to play on the market right now.
