Ripstone Moves into eSports with ESL Pure Pool PS4 Tournament

In association with Sony Computer Entertainment Europe and the Electronic Sports League (ESL), developer and publisher Ripstone Games is today announcing a move into eSports, with its popular Pure Pool title part of the first month of PS4 Events scheduling.

Pure Pool, Ripstone and VooFoo Studios premier pool game available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam, has sold more than 300,000 units to date across all platforms, and will now feature as part of ESL’s new PS4 Events programming on PlayStation 4.

The Pure Pool Contender Cup will begin in Europe on December 3, 2016, with any and all Pure Pool owners on PlayStation 4 welcome to sign up and compete. The full rules for the tournament can be found in the Sony PS4 Events App, and on the Pure Pool ESL official page.

This is Ripstone’s first splash into the eSports scene, and the Pure publisher has plans for numerous other tournaments on PlayStation 4 in the coming months, including for popular titles Pure Chess and Pure Hold’em, which have sold millions of units between them.

Each Pure title from Ripstone contains numerous online tournament features as standard, putting the development house in a great position to move more fluidly into eSports with ESL in the months to follow.

“We’ve always strived to support online tournaments on PlayStation 4 within our popular titles including Pure Pool and Pure Hold’em,noted Leo Cubbin, Ripstone managing director and co-founder. “This new initiative with SCEE and ESL will allow us to provide our Pure Pool players on PS4 with an exciting, new competitive environment for the title.”

Pure Pool is one of the first titles to be part of SCEE and ESL’s new PS4 Events schedule.
