Earth Defense Force (EDF) is back with EDF: Iron Rain. The Earth Defense Force series was launched back in 2003 on PlayStation 2 and has earned a reputation for its relentless wave shooter gameplay with tons of enemies on the screen and wide variety of unique weapons and loadout combinations. Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain is developed by YUKE’s and published by D3 Publishers.
During PAX East, we visited the booth where we had tons of fun with all the props from the game and tried the hands-on with the demo. Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain started with a selection of loadout and weapons; there are 4 soldier classes to select from, Trooper, Jet Lifter, Heavy Striker, and Prowl Rider. Each soldier class has different abilities to fight the aliens.
We personally loved Prowl Rider, as that soldier class has zip ability that lets you run across the battlefield. Prowl Rider is more like soldiers from Attack on Titan that use gas enabled vertical maneuvering equipment. Just like those tools, you can just jump around the entire map by using a hook either on a building or an alien. Each class can also use a special skill that lets you summon aliens to help in the battle as well and when you are in trouble that helps you in dealing a lot of damage. Overall, Earth Defense Force: Iron Rain was a great experience at the D3 Booth.
