Operation Supply Drop Announces 2nd Annual VETOBER Campaign

Charitable Veteran Service Organization Supports Active-Duty Military, Military Families and Veterans with Month-Long Outreach Campaign

AUSTIN, TX – Operation Supply Drop, a prominent Veteran Service Organization known for delivering “Video Game Care Packages” to active-duty service members, today announced the 2nd Annual VETOBER®, a month-long campaign designed to raise awareness and encourage donor participation in Operation Supply Drop charitable outreach efforts.  OSD’s VETOBER efforts will begin October 1 and culminate with Veteran’s Day on November 11.  Throughout the campaign OSD will work with partners to highlight program successes, launch a new veteran service program and host dozens of events around the country as well as encourage developers, publishers, media organizations, content creators and others to participate by visiting www.vetober.com.

“Operation Supply Drop began with a fairly simple mission – to show our appreciation and to ease the burden of active-duty service on military personnel and their families with Video Game Care Packages, which has been a tremendous success,” said Glenn D. Banton, Chief Executive Officer of Operation Supply Drop.  “Today, we’ve greatly expanded those efforts to help address the many transitional challenges faced by our servicemen and women as they return home, including mental health issues, homelessness and gainful employment.  And, that is what VETOBER is all about – a month long call-to-action on critical issues and helping to reconnect veterans and their families with the communities they’ve been serving.”

Founded in 2010, Operation Supply Drop was initially devoted to delivering “Video Game Care Packages Overseas” in response to a growing need from deployed troops for generationally relevant entertainment and support.  As the organization grew and service members began to return home facing various transitional challenges, OSD adapted to address the underlying needs of these veterans and their families.  Today’s Operation Supply Drop is a direct reflection of listening to those served and developing substantial programming designed to help veterans more comfortably acclimate during that transition back home.   All OSD programs directly touch on mental health, homelessness and employment for veterans and their families backed by an organizational mission and global community foundation that encourages community service and accountability to one’s peers.

Over the last six years, Operation Supply Drop has provided more than 500,000 video games to more than 100,000 veterans and their families serving in more than 300 deployed military units.

Operation Supply Drop’s VETOBER will run from October 1 through Veteran’s Day on November 11.  To participate in the VETOBER celebration or for additional details about the program, please visit VETOBER.  For more information about Operation Supply Drop or its other outreach programs, including Video Game Care Packages, The Teams and Thank You Deployments, please visit Operation Supply Drop.
