OK K.O.! DYNAMITE'S ACTION NEWS Announced by Cartoon Network at PAX East

New from Wake Robin Games, the 2017 mobile title is the next addition to the multiplatform world of OK K.O.!

This weekend from PAX East, Cartoon Network announced the winner of its first-ever Game Jam. Wake Robin Games, a three-person studio in Portland, OR, rose above the competition of 200 independent developers to win a fully funded contract to bring their creation to life and turn their passion for game development into a career. The resulting title, OK K.O.! Dynamite’s Action News, will be published by Cartoon Network Games and available for free on mobile platforms later this year.

Charged with the task of creating a game based on the extensive cast of heroes in the OK K.O.! universe, the jammers had 48 hours to complete their initial game concepts. In OK K.O.! Dynamite’s Action News, players take on the role of Dynamite Watkins, an explosive reporter who investigates mysteries and fights crime in a 1980’s cyberpunk environment.

The game jam winning game is the latest addition to the OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes universe. Earlier this week, Cartoon Network also announced a new original animated series from creator Ian Jones-Quartey alongside a console game developed by Capybara Games, both launching in 2017. OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes is set in Lakewood Plaza, a mall for heroes, where K.O. and his cool crew of friends are constantly trying to impress each other in their efforts to level up and overcome the obstacles that evil foe Lord Boxman sends their way on his quest to destroy the plaza.

OK K.O.! Dynamite’s Action News will be available to play at the Cartoon Network booth (#20055) throughout PAX East. Wake Robin Games’ artist Conley Smith will discuss the development process on the panel “Cartoon Network Games: Going Indie with Steven Universe & OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes,” Saturday, March 11 at 10 a.m. in the Dragonfly Theater.
