gamescom award 2016 with new categories

  • Application possible in 20 categories for the first time
  • High quality jury expanded by ten jurors
  • Submissions can be made as of 1 June 2016

When gamescom opens its gates August 17 – 21 in Cologne, the most popular prize of the European computer and video game industry also enters the critical phase: the gamescom award 2016.

This year, the race for the coveted award is even more exciting, because the following new categories, among others, have been added: best expansion (add-ons, etc.), best preview/vision (for non-playable offerings, trailers, etc.) or the best indie game. The nominees and the winners will be selected by a jury that is this year welcoming ten new members. One prize, the gamescom Most Wanted Consumer Award, will once again be awarded by gaming fans. The submission phase for the gamescom award 2016 begins on 1 June 2016.

This year too, the Digitale Spielekultur foundation is running the award office of the gamescom award.

More categories, more participants, more chances to win a gamescom award! In 2016, the exhibitors of gamescom can enter the race for the coveted award in 20 categories. Due to the additional categories of the gamescom award, not only the circle of potential applicants is expanded. Instead, the chances of winning the most popular prize of the European computer and video game industry increase as a result.
