G FUEL, the official energy drink of eSports, and ESL, the world’s largest eSports company, announced today that the popular beverage brand will be the official energy drink of the upcoming 11th season of the Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) tour.
The longest running global professional gaming tour in the world, IEM’s 11th season features high-stakes tournaments across multiple continents and, for the first time in IEM history, a prize pool of over $1 million.
“ESL is the world’s largest and most prestigious eSports company, and this partnership is right in-line with our global expansion plans,” said Clifford Morgan, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Gamma Labs. “Competitive gamers train and perform at a fiercely competitive level. When millions of dollars are won or lost over milliseconds, reaction time and focus are key elements to victory. G Fuel’s formula was designed to deliver the energy and focus necessary to perform at optimum levels, without sugar or any of the chemicals found in canned energy drinks.”
In addition to becoming the league’s official energy drink, G Fuel will also present MVP awards at each event, provide custom trophies to each recipient and have sponsored booths and product samplings at each stop over the course of the season. The MVP trophy presentations will be presented prior to the finals, at peak viewership. The season 10 finale had 2 million peak concurrent viewers, and 35 million unique viewers. This represents a 25% and 32% rise, respectively, compared to last year’s corresponding events. This highlights the exponential growth both the industry and IEM are experiencing as Season 1 topped out around 500,000 video sessions, and Season 10 hit a staggering 132,326,000 video sessions.
“Our athletes command peak performance from all their equipment”, said Michal Blicharz, Vice President of Pro Gaming at ESL, “the drink they consume is no exception. The increase in focus and concentration that G Fuel provides is beneficial to both professionals and fans, especially to health-conscious consumers looking for sugar-free energy drinks.”
The 2016-2017 IEM season will take gamers on an international tour that kicks off in Shanghai on July 31st and includes stops in Oakland, Gyeonggi, Katowice and also two brand new locations. Each event features some of the best gamers in the world competing in Counter Strike: Global Offensive, StarCraft II and League of Legends tournaments.
Created by the experts at Gamma Labs, G Fuel is an energy formula that’s designed to increase focus and concentration, two aspects integral to professional gamers, while using all natural ingredients.
Containing antioxidants from 19 different fruits, and loaded with Vitamins B, C and E, G Fuel offers athletes and video gamers a natural energy enhancement without the crash that occurs with other energy drinks.
