The first major showdown in Daybreak’s Elite Series came to a close this past weekend at DreamHack Atlanta. Two heart-pounding tournaments of H1Z1: King of the Kill – one featuring teams of five and another between solo players – combined to create one of the largest eSports event at DreamHack Atlanta this year in terms of both participants and its overall $250,000 prize pool.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Three teams, Counter Logic Gaming, Luminosity and Obey Alliance, tied for the most kills in team finals, each with 22. Dafps (Counter Logic Gaming) racked up the most individual kills in team finals with ten kills, while Prox topped the individual* kill count in solo finals with nine.
  • 13 countries were represented across all matches, including the United States, China, France, Belgium, Turkey, Sweden, Korea, and more, with the furthest participant journeying from Australia to compete.

*Prox and Sweetdreams each tallied nine kills in solo finals; Prox won the tiebreaker by having the most kills in a single game.

Impact Gaming

24 teams competed in the qualifiers with seven advancing to the finals where they would face the top five teams from the Fight for the Crown tournament (CLG, Obey Alliance, Denial Esports, World Best Gaming, Luminosity Gaming).

120 solo players competed for 40 spots in the finals to join 20 pre-selected top players, including previous H1Z1 Invitational winners Ninja (Luminosity), Inboxes (Rogue), and Radek (Echo Fox).

H1Z1 is a single-elimination, massive arena shooter that pits 150 battle-hardened players against each other in a robust and detailed world. Players scavenge for weapons, ammo, armor, vehicles and life-saving supplies to gain the upper hand on the competition and be the last one standing.
