Armikrog Review for PC

This is Gaming Cypher’s review for the PC version of Armikrog by independent game developer Pencil Test Studios (Earthworm Jim and the Neverhood) in partnership with indie publisher Versus Evil.

Armikrog is a true point-and-click adventure ‘claymation’ game in which you get to be both space explorer Tommynaut and his blind alien talking dog Beak-Beak. The two get stuck in Armikrog, which is a huge fortress filled with dangers and puzzles.  Your main mission is to escape and find exotic P-tonium in order to save your world.

Armikrog Review for PC

We must say that Armikrog was very entertaining and challenging, but also very frustrating at times. Our main complaint is that in most point-and-click adventures, the mouse will always highlight over the areas where you need to click, therefore clueing you in what you need to do next. However, in Armikrog, you just have to continue to click all over the screen, especially in areas where the puzzle solving is not apparent, and hope that you’ll find the right object to click on in order to progress.

While solving the puzzles while adventuring is a lot of fun, we found several areas not very intuitive so it was very difficult to progress as we just couldn’t figure out certain areas as they didn’t make sense to us.

On the positive note, we loved the characters Tommynaut and his blind alien talking dog Beak-Beak and wanted to make sure that they achieved their objectives. The claymation graphics of Armikrog are unique so we definitely enjoyed that aspect of the game.

In addition, Armikrog boasts of a great voiceover talent of well-known actors Jon Heder (Napoleon Dynamite), Rob Paulsen (Pinky and the Brain) and Michael J. Nelson (Mystery Science Theater 3000). In addition, the original soundtrack was created and recorded by American songwriter and record producer, Terry Scott Taylor.

We recommend a buy if you enjoy a quirky, fun and challenging true point-and-click adventure game.

We give Armikrog 3.5/5.

You can download Armikrog for PC on Steam.
