Anime Ascension Tournament Returns to Irvine for 2018

Third year of SoCal’s anime-focused fighting game tournament ups the ante with $6,000 in pot bonuses

Torrance, Calif.— February 7, 2018 — Fighting Gamers@UCI and Aksys Games are pleased to announce that Anime Ascension will return to Irvine for its third year. The most passionate anime-focused fighting game tournament runs from March 31 through April 1 at the UC Irvine Pacific Ballroom. Featured games include Guilty Gear Xrd REV2, BlazBlue Central Fiction, and Under Night In-Birth Exe:Late[st], with side game announcements coming soon. Level Up, LLC will be the official streamers of the event.

For 2018, Aksys Games is adding $6,000 in additional prize money to the pool, $2,000 each for the three main titles! The tournament will also award cash prizes to the Top 8 in each game this year.

“This event has really taken on a life of its own,” said Akibo Shieh, Founder and CEO of Aksys Games. “We have hundreds of players coming from all over the country, plus Europe and Japan, who love to play 2D fighters, so we’re especially excited to increase the pot bonuses this year.”

Anime Ascension Tournament Returns to Irvine for 2018

Registration is open now and runs through March 23. The venue fee is currently $30, and will increase to $40 on March 1. Registration fee is $10 for each of the main games in addition to the venue fee. The Atrium has been selected as the Anime Ascension Hotel of Choice, with rooms starting at $99 per night (double occupancy) for bookings reserved by March 9th.
