Berlin – With “Joseph,” Sandbox Interactive is announcing the first major post-launch update for Albion Online. The expansion will be available as early as September 27, 2017 for all players of the sandbox MMORPG. “Joseph” will feature an action-packed Arena mode that will provide thrilling battles, diverse rewards, and a plethora of possibilities to show off the results achieved. Also, there will be additional PvP opportunities with “Treasure Sites,” two new group expeditions, further UI/UX improvements, user-friendly Smart Casting, new weapon abilities for more variety and other improvements.
The most important features of the Joseph update at a glance:
In the new Arena, players face worthy opponents in 5vs5 matches to gain control points. They can enter the arena through random matchmaking with friends, guild mates or on their own. This is also where they can train for PvP fights in higher tiers. In the team battle, the rewards depend on the control points gained and the highscore achieved. The winning team receives Arena Sigils which can be either redeemed for rewards or traded with others. Each character can collect three Arena Sigils per day for the first three winning matches, with a maximum of nine Arena Sigils per day.
The old Relic Locker sites around Albion have been replaced by “Treasure Sites”. More than ten of these locations can be found throughout the yellow, red and black zones. These sites are literally littered with silver. But it’s not only silver which can be collected there – urns can also be smashed and may hold some of the sought-after currency. And those who dare destroy sarcophaguses will face a battle with a ghost. Winning players will be rewarded with even more silver though.
Eternal Battle Expedition
An ancient city is overrun by undead soldiers which belonged to a defending army from a battle that happened a long time ago. It is the job of the players to drive them out again and regain the city for the living.
Three Sisters Expedition
A Royal Guard who is said to have committed treason has disappeared and must be found again. The trace leads to an old monastery where three age-defying sisters of the Morgana cult already await you.
The eagerly awaited Smart Casting mechanic will be added as an option in the game settings. Based on their play style, players can choose between two variants. With “Quick Cast on Button Press”, ground-targeted abilities will be cast in the direction of the cursor when pressing the respective skill button. Or, with the “Quick Cast on Button Release” setting, a spell area indicator will appear at the position of the mouse when pressing and holding an ability key. When the pressed key is released, the ability will be cast. The “Normal Spell Cast” will remain as the default setting
The Joseph update will bring a facelift to some of the menu interfaces, including an improved appearance of the island merchant menu and the social menu. Additionally, there will be user experience improvements to the social menu to enable players to directly contact their friends and add them to a party.
Five new abilities have been added for bows, daggers, cursed staffs, swords and spears starting at tier 5. They will give even more variety to these weapons’ play styles. One of these abilities is the new “Ray of Light” ability for bows which will root the enemy for a short amount of time. And daggers now have an ability called “Shadow Edge” to sneakily teleport to an enemy or an ally.
New effects for the “Ice Storm” and “Armor Piercer” abilities, additional ability effect improvements, Dungeons and Mob Camps have treasure chests, Essences can be used in potion crafting, plus dozens of minor improvements and countless bug fixes.
The Joseph update will be released on September 27, 2017. All details to the expansion are available here: https://albiononline.com/en/update/joseph
