This is Gaming Cypher’s Xbox One review for Letter Quest: Grimm’s Journey Remastered by Bacon Bandit Games and Digerati.
Right off the bat, the game starts you off with a comic strip and the selection choice of either Story or Endless Mode. Endless Mode is pretty neat to play once you have completed the Story Mode, as it enables you to keep on battling monsters until your health and supplies are totally depleted. It also gives you the choice of your favorite background art, music, character, weapon, and letter tiles. The graphics on the Xbox One were eye catching and well done.
I really appreciated the way that the developer starts you off with easier to defeat enemies, and peppers instructions throughout several scenes, instead of having to sit through a long tutorial. Each stage has four stars to complete, and the enemies and quests at each level get progressively harder and even more fun. This is a a turn-base RPG where your spelling skills will enable you to either survive or be killed.
As an added fun bonus, you will encounter treasure boxes and letters that will give you nine chances to guess which word is in the puzzle, sort of Wheel of Fortune style. In addition, as you progress, you will be tasked to complete different achievements (60 in total), such as spell 20 words having two letter ‘e’ in each one, defeat enemies by using at least two corner letters in each word, spelling words with different vowels, consonants and the puzzles seem endless. There are 70 quests in total to complete and, of course, once you’ve completed the Story Mode you can continue on to Endless Mode – or replay stages for sheer fun.
Letter Quest: Grimm’s Journey Remastered is so much fun! It is highly addicting as well as you have a built-in dictionary of over 192,000 English words from which to choose. Throughout each challenge you will also be presented with perks and upgrades, which you can buy by collecting coins. The more enemies that you kill with your spelling prowess, the more coins that you will have to utilize for upgraded shields, health. spells, and much more.
