Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III Review for PC

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III Review for PC

Warhammer 40k is back with some great RTS gameplay, taking us all the way back to its previous games, and some of the similar games that we loved so much, Warcraft, Age of Empire and so on.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III takes you back to original game that I played few years back. The game is developed by Relic Entertainment and SEGA Europe and is the third game in the series. Dawn of War III is pretty much linear in terms of gameplay.

Dawn of War III is all about the war between the factions, and each one trying to achieve the goal. We have three factions, which we play using one by one. First one is Blood Raven Space Marines, Eldars and Orks.

All three have their own commander whom we control and on each level we have to either build a base as we move forward, or keep getting resources. Each faction commander has specific skills that can be utilized during the combat. The commander is capable of being healed as well. The ultimate skills for each commander which is the greatest weapon.

The Raven Space Marine faction is more of human soldiers with different squads, that can perform different task, including melee and ranged including snipers. Orks are more of salvagers who can upgrade by salvaging. And, the Eldars are more of futuristic, who can teleport around the bases.

The campaign mode especially needs certain objectives to be achieved, which is more like exploring the map and leaving bases behind for enough man power backup for further combats. It is pretty interesting to play at the start. But after a while it just keep getting repetitive. Most of the times either we are defending or trying to take over resource bases.

The graphics and frame rate of the game is pretty advanced now, and if you have played previous Warhammer games, you will feel a great difference, with all the texture and graphical details. Game controls are really great and easy, sometimes it becomes a bit clumsy when controlling different squads but once you get used to it it’s pretty much walk in a park.

I would say in terms of graphics and gameplay it is a really great game. But if we look at the story mission it somehow keeps repeating the cycle. If you are an RTS fan and looking for old school gameplay, this is definitely something for you. I would definitely like to give Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War III 8.5 stars.
