Telltale’s Batman: The Enemy Within Episode 1 Review for PC

Telltale’s Batman: The Enemy Within Episode 1 Review for PC

(This Review of Batman: The Enemy Within contains spoilers for Episode 1, The Enigma.)

Telltale is back with a new season of Batman. Living as Bruce Wayne and batman at the same time, and experiencing the consequences of the action. I have been waiting for the second season eagerly, after a successful kick-off of the first season which showed a lot of drama and tragedies that befall on our dark knight, finding that Thomas Wayne was one of the lords running Gotham City and his friends turned into psychopath criminal, and an interesting cameo of Joker as John Doe in the Arkham Asylum, and introducing Selina Kyle as well as Catwoman. It was a well-placed storyline. Note: Batman: The Enemy Within is a standalone product separate from the first season of Batman: The Telltale Series.

Telltale’s Batman: The Enemy Within Episode 1 Review for PC

This season kicked off with introduction of one of the core batman villain Riddler. Starting off with a robbery in a casino and Enigma’s famous riddles to get through and save hostage using the same strategy using the Batman’s cowl mode. It’s been an exciting episode so far with the twist of Lucius Fox’s death while decrypting the riddle provided by Enigma, right before introducing Lucius’s daughter. And right after introduction of Joker back into the game, again with a cameo for a few minutes, has been interesting, with a relationship building between not the Batman and Joker, but Bruce Wayne and John, which explains a lot about the chemistry between the two.

And we have seen a lot of relationships getting broken, including Tiffany Fox, James Gordon, when Enigma played with Batman’s life, it left a big hole. After death of Lucius, Batman started searching for Enigma and turned into traps after traps for Batman.

Telltale’s Batman: The Enemy Within Episode 1 Review for PC

The Enigma Riddles are best so far in the series, it does feel I wanted more of it, but I guess more of the episodes are about to come. It is just not gonna be riddler since he is already captured. But it does point to a villain organization that might be aiming for Gotham. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for the upcoming episodes for some exciting storyline.

Based on the story and gameplay, this episode overall had a lot of moments which felt like really important for the development of each character and relationship, and Riddler was the main focus light of the whole episode with his tricks and questions. I would like to give this episode 8.5 stars out of 10.
