Sir Paul McCartney to Release Destiny Theme Song as Single

Following developer Bungie’s release of Destiny on September 9th, Sir Paul McCartney will be releasing the game’s theme song as a single.

The former Beatle collaborated with composer Marty O’Donnell to create the Destiny’s score. The theme song was recorded at Abbey Road with a 120-piece ensemble. The theme song, said to be about ‘hope,’ was directed by Giles Martin, son of Beatles producer George, and produced by Mark Stent, who has previously worked with Bjork, Lady Gaga and U2.

Of note: Marty O’Donnell left Bungie in April and sued them for unpaid wages, eventually settling on a $95,000 legal settlement.

Mr. McCartney has kept quiet about the theme song with the exception of a single message on Twitter in July 2012, in which he wrote “I’m really excited to be working on writing music with @bungie, the studio that made Halo.”
