I haven’t played the previous Samurai Warriors titles so I went through the gameplay videos of the previous games and I was so intrigued with the environmental settings, old Japan, and with the Warlords and Kings. The game had some interesting story telling as well. SAMURAI WARRIORS: Spirit of Sanada is developed by Omega Force, and published by KOEI TECMO America. It gives an insight of Sengoku period during the period of politics and military conflicts.
The graphics of the game are pretty much good and the in-game videos are great. The speech in the game I kept all the time was Japanese as I prefer the audio, and the subtitles are in English. The story explains about the clan Sanada, who are allies of the Takeda Clan. There are a lot of returning characters which are playable in this game from the previous games. The story is focused on the Sanada clan, and provides the historical map of Japan. Masayuki Sanada is the main character and one of the greatest strategist during the time. And provides the story based on his earlier wars, as well as later wars during his life.
SAMURAI WARRIORS: Spirit of Sanada is more like an RPG where the characters are evolved with more experience from the battle. The gameplay battle is hack and slash, with skill set which can be utilized as well on top of normal attacks, which are called Musou attacks, deals heavy damage. Each battlefield is like a dungeon with specific set mini boss and boss, and unlimited mob enemies which keeps on spawning on the battlefield. The way to win a battle is to run around and defeat the specific character in the objective as well as finishing any support objectives as well. The battles are fun and challenging all over.
During each battle if any of the allies is defeated the battle is lost, so make sure to finish most of the task as soon as possible. The game advances in different year after each battle. Sanada castle serves as the base of our character whenever not in battle, we can buy/sell and upgrade our items. We can do farming, fishing as well character building, too. We can give gift to our allies and get additional bonus items from them. There are two EXP points available, one that each character get and other is clan EXP which can be utilized towards a character’s skills.
SAMURAI WARRIORS: Spirit of Sanada is pretty much fun and a lot of interesting plots to play with. I really liked the character Masayuki Sanada and the growth. For any Japanese game fans, should play this game.
I would rate this game 8.5 out of 10.
