REPORT: LEGO Marvel's Avengers Set to Shrink Your Favorite Superheroes

Marvel has already dominated the big screen, but now the company is coming for your consoles and mobile devices with a slate of highly anticipated games lined up for 2016

Among these, one game we’re definitely the most excited about has got to be LEGO Marvel’s Avengers. The licensed LEGO adaptations of popular properties (from Star Wars to Jurassic World) have consistently been among the most fun and enjoyable adventure platformers on the market today. With the precedent set by the series, it’s no wonder expectations are high for LEGO to take on the Marvel mantle again after 2013’s great LEGO Marvel Super Heroes.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to break down their favorite heroes brick by brick once more, and the wait is just about over. In addition to the colorful characters found in the comic book pages of the Avengers, the game will also provide the first opportunity to control the cast of the upcoming Captain America: Civil War. This will include heroes such as Agent 13, Ant-Man, Black Panther, Crossbones and the Wasp.

With Civil War prepped for release in May, the world is getting ready for an event that is set to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we know it. In the movie, following the events of Avengers: Age of Ultron the government decides that superheroes must be made to answer to a larger governing body and be regulated for their actions. This includes a registration act that would require heroes to reveal their identities and personal information to the government. The Avengers are split concerning their feelings on the registration act. Iron Man believes the steps are necessary, but Captain America believes the law violates their civil liberties while putting superheroes and their families at further risk.

The ensuing conflict will threaten to rip apart the MCU as people are forced to choose sides and new characters are brought into the fray. It all sets the stage for what’s sure to be one of the biggest and most exciting movies of the year.

Marvel has been doing all it can to increase the pop-culture presence of its heroes through its mobile offerings such as Marvel: Contest of Champions and Marvel Heroes in advance of the forthcoming movie. The massively multiplayer online action RPG, Marvel Heroes, has been adding packs of new characters for fans to play with in 2016. This includes the likes of Green Goblin, Nick Fury, Ultron, Black Bolt, Elektra and more. The company has been doing all it can to acquaint casual audiences with some of its lesser-known characters, too. It’s even gone so far as to include Elektra in the range of games starring Marvel characters developed for wider audiences for online social casino platforms. The company has also used that platform to showcase characters like Captain America, Daredevil and the entir
e Avengers team.

Captain America: Civil War is set to hit the silver screen on May 6, 2016 with LEGO Marvel’s Avengers prepared for release on Jan. 22. That gives fans plenty of time to get reacquainted with their favorite roster of heroes in time for the movie.
