From New to Noteworthy – recently formed team ‘Summer’s Rift’ takes the Americas qualifier and last spot in the Playoffs
The regional matches in the Red Bull Battle Grounds: Dota 2 professional gaming tournament circuit are complete; yesterday, team Summer’s Rift earned was the victor of the Americas qualifiers, shutting out the competition and closing the lid on first leg of the road to the grand finals on May 10th in San Francisco. This team, featuring seasoned players like Jimmy ‘DeMoN’ Ho as well as until now, unproven up and comers, secured their place in the Red Bull Battle Grounds Playoffs, as well as the pro Dota 2 scene.
On 5/5/15 – May 5th – five of the best Dota 2 teams from all over the world will converge at the Red Bull eSports Studio in Santa Monica, for a one-of-a kind Playoffs format, unique to both pro gaming and traditional sports.
Teams enter the Playoffs with three lives – and one opportunity to choose their opponent. This one choice has the potential to change the outcome, bringing new levels of strategy to professional Dota 2 – along with new levels of rivalry, competition and drama.
The top two teams will advance to the grand finals, taking place in front of a live audience on May 10th in the city by the Bay, San Francisco, at the historic Warfield Theatre.
Competing in the Playoffs will be:
- Team Malaysia (South East Asia)
- Invictus Gaming (China)
- HellRaisers (CIS/Russia)
- Team Secret (Europe)
- Summer’s Rift (Americas)
Dota 2 broad casters, David Gorman and David Parker of Beyond the Summit will commentate these unique Playoffs, as well as the Red Bull Battle Grounds: Dota 2 grand finals, live from The Warfield Theatre, in San Francisco, California.
