Persona 5 Review for PlayStation 4

Persona 5 Review for PlayStation 4

The Persona series came out with another amazing achievement this year, after a long wait. The last Persona 4 was available on Playstation 2, that was 9 years back. It re-imagined the RPG games were played, with great story and great gameplay.

Atlus came out with another masterpiece this year. Persona 5 has great story line, and as usual with Atlus, a great gameplay. Persona 5 has a great story line and gameplay style. If you are an anime fan and have a PS4 this is something of a must play game.

The art style of Persona 5 is great as usual, with the anime style cut-scenes, and graphical novel style gameplay, along with a great combat system. The game starts with the protagonist’s back story of how the school kid comes to be punished, transferred to a different city to attend the school. We arrive in Tokyo, and the whole game is mostly taking place in several locations around the whole city.

The story goes as, people having psychotic breakdowns and random train accidents happening around the city, all the incidents making it to the news, and somehow our protagonist is the one who is in middle of all this. And as usual just like the previous games, Igor is present in the dreams and makes the bond, and we become Phantom Thieves, which allows us to go to the alternate reality that is made up of the certain persons’ desire, and which shows the actual nature of that specific person.

On the path, we are able to make a lot of companions and we take all those companions to those alternate realities present all around the city, and have the person stolen of all the desires. There are demons that are present in those dungeons, which either we can battle or we can capture. The system is complex but once you get the hang of it, it’s one of the best.

I can just wonder how much designing thought must have gone into creating this game. The more interaction we do with the companion the stronger the bond is, and which in turn provides more support in the battle.

The most important and my personal favorite thing about the game is the storyline as how it keeps jumping between present and then the story starts back in the past. The series of events unfolding gives us more clarity of things happening in the future. This game has one of the best story telling in form of anime.

The game has also got the Japanese Audio available as DLC. Most of the anime fans like myself, I prefer Japanese audio, which makes the game and dialogues more fun.

I would definitely give Persona 5 a 9.5 stars. It has been a game I was waiting for so eagerly for a long time.
