PC REVIEW for Goetia

This is Gaming Cypher’s PC review of Goetia by developer Sushee and  the first game to be published by the Square Enix Collective initiative.

Right off the bat, I found myself as a wandering spirit of the 12-year-old Abigail Blackwood, surrounded by a spooky outdoors environment and a leafless tree. The fantastic music and tones fit in perfectly with the opening scene. Goetia takes place in England in the 1940’s within the mysterious Blackwood Manor and its surroundings.

PC REVIEW for Goetia

Goetia is a fantastically addicting point-and-click adventure game that is filled with exploration and puzzle solving. There are many items and ways to find your clues in order to solve what has happened in the many years since Abigail’s death as she plunged through the manor’s window. You get to play as a free wandering spirit with the ability to go through certain walls and floors, but not all of them. You can then enspirit yourself within several items and have to solve what exactly to do with them as many items can be incorporated with others in order to help you progress with your adventure. And yes, there are demons that you must face as well!

PC REVIEW for Goetia

I found Goetia to be constantly challenging, having to read many clues, notes, notebooks and bring invisible ink to light in order to decipher the coded message. This is a true puzzle-solver’s dream, keeping you engaged for hours on the mystery of Abigail and the Manor. The more you find clues, the more you want to continue to solve the mystery.

PC REVIEW for Goetia

The massive reading of clues could be construed as great fun by some, or as a bit much for others who don’t appreciate reading so much. Personally, I really enjoyed the game, finding and reading clues and then solving the puzzles. For this reason, I definitely recommend Goetia as a BUY and give it a 9/10.

Here is the Goetia gameplay trailer:

Goetia is available via Steam priced at $14.99 /£9.99 / €14.99. It’s also available direct from the Square Enix Store, Green Man Gaming and the Humble Store.
