Japan Game Awards 2014 Dated for First Day of Tokyo Game Show

The 18th annual Japan Game Awards will hold the awards ceremony on Thursday, September 18 (the first day of TOKYO GAME SHOW 2014) at the Event Stage (Hall 8) in Makuhari Messe.

Tokyo Game Show 2014 Main Visual Revealed

 

The various titles that will be given out September 18 (Thu) 16:00 to 17:30 (Planned) at Event Stage(Hall 8) in TOKYO GAME SHOW 2014 are:

  • “Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award”
  • “Game of the Year Division”
  • “Game Designers Award”

Each award for the “Games of the Year Division” is selected from over 2,000 titles released during the time between April 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014 and honors a title suitable to represent this past year. The “Game Designer’s Award” is selected by top creators and designers in Japan from their professional viewpoint. The “Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award” is given to an individual or group who has contributed to the development of the game industry.

Here is the planned program:

– Address by host rep: CESA Chairman; Shin Unozawa
– Announcements:
1) “Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award”
2) “Global Award” for the “Games of the Year Division”
3) “Best Sales Award” for the “Games of the Year Division”
4) “Special Award” for the “Games of the Year Division”
5) “Game Designer’s Award”
(Presented by: Mr. Masahiro Sakurai, Head judge)
6) “Award for Excellence” for the “Games of the Year Division”
7) “Grand Award” for the “Games of the Year Division”

The Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Award:

An individual or group (e.g. company, organization) who has contributed to the development of the home videogame industry
in Japan.

Games of the Year Division:

Computer entertainment software titles releases in Japan between April 1, 2013 and March 31, 2014, including those intended for
home videogame consoles (both stationary and mobile types), PCs, and mobile phones, as well as non-Japanese titles localized for the Japanese market or created by non-members of the CESA (However, they must comply with the CESA Code of Ethics).

Game Designers Award:

Home videogame consoles sold in Japan from April 1, 2013 to March 31, 2014.
Selection Procedure – Each judge scores each work on a 10-point scale. The scoring results from the judges are used to identify the work with the highest score as the winner.
