A Storybook Comes to Life in Jack Nimble: Attack of the Boredom Bugs,
Now on Kickstarter

Summon Jack’s animal friends to keep boredom at bay!

SAN FRANCISCO — Oct. 23, 2015 Illustrated by Beau Kittredge of Snowsuit Studio and developed by indie outfit Binary Solo led by Chad Stewart, Jack Nimble: Attack of the Boredom Bugs is now on Kickstarter seeking $40,000 in completion funds. Self-described as “action tower defense,” Jack Nimble’s humorous characters, settings and mini-games offer players an exciting, storybook-like romp they won’t soon forget.

In Jack Nimble: Attack of the Boredom Bugs, you play as Jack, a “lumberjackrabbit” with the ability to summon animal friends in defense of their home, the Watercolor Woods. Jack’s friend, Enessa the Elephant, has stolen a Barrel of Pure Boredom from those nasty bugs and is trying to stop the Barrel’s contents from being unleashed upon their home.

Jack Nimble introduces a new sub-genre: active tower defense (ATD) — which is not your grandma’s glacial tower defense fare. Instead, towers give you direct control over their abilities — or in this case, animals!

Each character summoned by Jack has its own mini-game:

  • With the Armadillo, you’ll play a game of “Soccerdillo” — where the objective is to bounce the animal on as many Boredom Bug heads as possible using a side perspective
  • You’ll go bowling with a Porcupine in a game of “Porcubowl” — which gives you a front-facing perspective as you steer yourself into as many enemies as possible before reaching the end of the lane
  • You’ll take to the skies in a game of “Footb-owl” with the Owl — whose top-down perspective gives you a rhythm-based flying game where the goal is to drop fruit on enemy heads

Jack Nimble: Attack of the Boredom Bugs is a labor of love. We poured our hearts and souls into this game,” says Beau Kittredge, founder of Snowsuit Studio. ”We hope Kickstarter users will be ready for something completely different . . . and very, very fun. The perspective changes in the game allow players to experience the action from a totally new angle — turning traditional attack and defense concepts upside down.”

Key Features

  • A new puzzle game genre called “active tower defense (ATD),” where each tower will only activate if you manually control it
  • Play musical instruments to summon 3 different Tower Animals — armadillo, porcupine, or owl — each with a unique perspective and mini-game
  • 3 worlds, 60+ levels, 6 unique upgrades, and 3 insane super upgrades
  • Each enemy requires the player to use a unique perspective (side, front, and top-down)
    • Porcupine: Front perspective, bowling gameplay, steers left and right with keyboard
    • Armadillo: Side perspective, bouncing gameplay, steers left and right with keyboard + space bar to dive when heading downwards
    • Owl: Top-down perspective, flying/rhythm gameplay, click on target with mouse
