INVERSUS Headed to the PAX Indie Megabooth at PAX Prime 2015

Inversus is a minimalist action-strategy game by Ryan Juckett (Hypersect). It is played on a grid of black and white tiles where each player is restricted to either side. Players flip tiles towards their color to gain control and close in on the enemy. With every action changing the play space, each round evolves into a unique battle field.

History

Inversus was conceived as a potential game jam project during the summer of 2013. Though the game jam ended up taking a different direction, the concept never left Ryan’s thoughts, and he decided to prototype it over the winter holidays. He has since programmed the engine from the ground up, designed the art, and learned a thing or two about synthesizing sounds. With a year and a half of spare time and polish behind him, the game is closing in on release.

Features

  • Gameplay-first design focused on an original mechanic
  • Mind bending levels with seamless screen wrapping
  • Fast paced local multiplayer competition
  • Single-player arcade mode
  • Thirty unique maps to play on
  • Clean minimalist aesthetic
  • Rewarding for both strategy and skill as you balance spatial control with quick reflexes
