What happens when players are given the ability to manipulate the world as it is formed?
City of the Shroud developer Abyssal Arts is answering that question with the release of the second episode of its interactive story preview. Over the last week, every player has picked a side in the dispute among three of Iskendrun’s most powerful political factions, and the repercussions of their choices are playing out now in the latest episode.
Episode 1 has already revealed a crack in the alliance between Zem and Azura. As the situation evolves, will players remain loyal to their chosen leader, or defect to fight for another? The players will decide over the coming week, and the results will be felt with the release of episode 3, later this month.
The latest release, version 0.0.9, also includes a new stage (pictured above), access to new abilities, and several bug fixes. Patch notes are available here.
City of the Shroud is currently running a campaign on Kickstarter and Steam Greenlight from February 2 through March 3. Backers will gain access to all 4 Kickstarter-exclusive episodes, and can influence the evolution of the story by playing the latest episode. You can access the gameplay demo here.
