Three-Day Gaming and Geek Culture Extravaganza is Free and Open to the Public of All Ages
AUSTIN, Texas (March 9, 2015) — Grab your controllers, keyboards and virtual reality headsets: it’s game time once again at one of SXSW Interactive’s hottest elements! The South by Southwest (SXSW) Gaming Expo, sponsored by Activision and Twitch, is back again with three days jam-packed with events, game demos and panel discussions featuring industry leaders like Microsoft Studios, Telltale Games and Razer, not to mention the second annual SXSW Gaming Awards, presented by iam8bit, Logitech, Porter Novelli, Twitch and Wikia.
The SXSW Gaming Expo, March 13-15, will take place at the Palmer Events Center, with additional programming taking place in the adjacent Long Center for the Performing Arts and Hyatt Regency Austin.
Actress and comedian Janet Varney along with actor and popular YouTube personality Markiplier will co-emcee the second-annual SXSW Gaming Awards ceremony on Saturday evening, March 14, at Austin City Limits Live at The Moody Theater. Audience Entertainment, Imaginary Forces, 3BlackDot, Thrilling Adventure Hour and Critical Hit will provide the audience with entertainment throughout the show.
Additional programming highlights for the 2015 SXSW Gaming Expo include panel presentations from the studios behind popular games like Tom Clancy’s The Division and Star Citizen, as well as discussions with industry leaders including Palmer Luckey (CEO, Oculus), Lorne Lanning (COO, Oddworld Inhabitants Inc) and Robert Kirkman (creator,Walking Dead).
The SXSW Gaming Expo and the SXSW Gaming Awards are free events and open to gamers of all ages as well as SXSW Interactive, Gold and Platinum badge holders. On-site parking at the Palmer Events Center is available each day of the event.
**For non-badge holders, please note SXSW Gaming programming requires free Guest Pass wristbands, available in advance at these Pickup Locations or onsite at the events, including the SXSW Gaming Awards. The Guest Pass also unlocks invitations to shows, parties, and events throughout SXSW, and offers up eligibility for amazing giveaways including SXSW badges, prizes and gift cards.
